You can delete your Kindred Content account yourself at any time, in the app or on the website. Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately — it cannot be undone.
In the app (Android or iPhone)
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap the gear icon at the top right to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm with Delete my account.
On the website
- Sign in at kindredcontent.app.
- Open Settings from the menu on the left (on a small screen, go to your Profile and tap the gear icon).
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete Account.
- Confirm with Delete my account.
If you can’t sign in
Email support@kindredcontent.app from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. We delete it once we have confirmed the request came from that address.
Added more than one profile?Profiles you created with Add account → New profile are deleted along with your main account. Deleting one of those profiles on its own deletes only that profile.
1 Deleting things without deleting your account
You can remove these yourself, in the app or on the website, and keep your account:
- A post — tap the … menu on the post and choose Delete post. Its photos, video or audio are deleted with it, along with its comments and likes.
- A flash — open your flash, tap the … at the top right and choose Delete flash. Flashes also disappear on their own after 24 hours.
- A draft — tap + (Create), open Drafts and tap the bin icon next to the draft.
- Your comment — tap Delete under it.
- Someone else’s comment on your post — tap Remove under it.
Messages can’t be deleted one at a time. Messages you sent are deleted when you delete your account. If someone is sending you messages you don’t want, you can block them from the … menu on their profile, or press and hold a message to report it.
2 What is deleted
As soon as you confirm, we delete:
- Your account and profile, and any profiles you added to it — username, display name, bio, profile photo, date of birth, settings, and the email address and password you sign in with. The email address is released and can be used to sign up again.
- Your posts and their media — photos, videos, audio, covers and drafts, including the files in our storage and our video-streaming service, and your flashes.
- Your comments and likes, and the comments and likes others left on your posts.
- Messages you sent. Messages other people sent you stay in their copy of the conversation.
- Your follows and followers, blocks, saved collections and series.
- Your family group membership. If you own a family group, the group is closed and its other members keep their own accounts. If you are a member, you leave the group, and any parental controls on your account end.
- Your subscription. Any active subscription, including a Family plan you pay for, is cancelled immediately so you are not charged again. If it cannot be cancelled, the account is not deleted and you are told why.
- Your creator application. Earnings are not lost: see below.
3 What is kept, and for how long
- Creator earnings. If you are a creator, your unpaid earnings are sent to your payout account before your account is deleted, with the usual $10 minimum waived. Earnings for the month you leave in are calculated with everyone else’s on the 1st and paid the same way. If you have no payout account, or a payment can’t be made, the money stays owed to you — email support@kindredcontent.app. Kindred keeps its records of what you earned and were paid, with your username, email address and payout account, after your account is deleted, for tax and accounting.
- Payment and payout records at Stripe. Payments and creator payouts are processed by Stripe, which keeps its own records of charges, refunds and transfers, and of any payout account you set up, as financial and tax law requires. Deleting your Kindred account cancels your subscription but does not delete those records; Stripe keeps them under its privacy policy.
- Reports and moderation records. Reports made about your posts, comments, messages or account are kept after you delete them or your account, together with a copy of what was reported — the post’s caption and media, or the text of the comment or message — and your username at the time. If a reported post is deleted, or a post is removed for breaking our rules, its media is moved to a private evidence store that only our moderation system can reach, instead of being destroyed. The results of automated content checks are also kept. Reports you made yourself are kept without your name. Reports and the results of content checks are deleted 2 years after they were made, once closed; a report still being reviewed is kept until it is reviewed. Preserved media is deleted after 1 year, unless we are legally required to keep it longer.
- Anonymous viewing records. Records of posts you viewed are kept with your identity removed, because creators’ statistics and earnings are calculated from them, and deleted 24 months after the view. Notifications other people received about your activity stay with them, without your name.
- Backups. Deleted data can remain in our database provider’s encrypted backups until those backups are replaced in its normal backup cycle.
See our Privacy Policy for more about the data we collect.
